Simplify hosted a memorable roundtable lunch in conjunction with APSCo on Wednesday 1st May. Held at the headquarters of the Fusiliers Regiment within the private confines of the Tower of London, the event was chaired by APSCo CEO, Ann Swain and attended by an array of recruitment business owners, directors and media representatives.
Upon arrival, guests marvelled at the stunning interior adorned with portraits of Fusilier Generals and the regimental colours carried into many a battle throughout the centuries. Priceless silver goblets, candlesticks and figurines added a somewhat medieval feel to the immaculately dressed banqueting table around which the 25 guests took their places to listen to Jay Shaw's (Sales Director) touching introduction. Jay served with the Fusiliers for 28 years and his compelling address gave a unique insight into the history of the regiment and the significance of the location.
Ann Swain then orchestrated a vibrant discussion on a variety of recruitment-related topics including confirmation that APSCo has successfully launched an industry-specific MBA in partnership with Cranfield School of Management and Grant Thornton UK LLP. The Executive MBA in Human Capital is tailored to the recruitment profession and designed for middle-to-senior managers and those who wish to fast-track their career with an organisation. For more information regarding the MBA and how it can be part-funded via either apprenticeship Levy pots or bursaries, please visit https://www.apsco.org/executive-mba-in-human-capital.aspx.
The relaxed atmosphere and exceptional menu engendered a refreshingly open series of conversations between the guests who were encouraged to swap places between courses. An audible increase in volume and the enthusiastic swapping of business cards highlighted the benefits of leaving the office for a few hours to exchange ideas and make new contacts, especially in such a convivial atmosphere. By the time the coffee was served, all formalities had long since been dispensed with as the guests happily mingled among themselves and chatted passionately about their businesses, aspirations and frustrations; from the fringes, it was a joy to witness.
With the grounds of the Tower resplendent in sunlight and shadow, many of the guests ambled about the ramparts and turrets on their way home no doubt energised by the spirit of this outstanding event. The feedback has already been extremely gratifying and Simplify will no doubt be hosting similar events in the future. Thank you to all those who contributed to a genuinely inspiring occasion which will live long in the memories of those who attended.
